Just saw many hundreds of sandhills at Crex Meadows in Wisconsin, but as lovely as they were, they don't outdo this book or Audubon's work.

I've been spending a lot of time outside these past few years, sometimes in the Connecticut countryside, sometimes on a park bench in New York, sharing my morning roll and coffee with the birds, large and small. I've come to think of them as friends and companions. Audubon had the extraordinary ability to capture that life essence. I would love to own this beautiful book. It's an inspiration and a reminder that in the smallest things we can find what's most important in life.
