Kaufman Field Guide

I have Peterson's and multiple Audubon source guides and I've been a feederwatch subscriber for years...but I'm always looking for more information. I've learned that using multiple sources can help with difficult identifications. I do not yet have Kaufman's guide and I'd love to add this to my knowledge base. This book is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen....

Requirements for Birding

A birder need but a few tools in their possession to be a birder - a field guide, a pair of binoculars and a passion for birds. If the person is in his/her fledgling stage of the avocation, then a mentor helps a great deal. Others can "bird watch" by sound, and with this, a field guide is still necessary to get descriptions of the bird songs, maps of bird distributions and images as double-checsk to make sure what one hears and then sees is the same bird. As the birder becomes more proficient, s/he will want more advanced tool with specifics about the bird species, their habitat requirements, behaviors, songs and other nuances. Kaufman's Field Guide to Advanced Birding is such a tool to augment any birder's resources and increase their skills and possibly provoke them to action in the protection of these fellow creatures with whom we share this planet.

This book is on my bucket list for sure!

I got to hear Ken Kaufman at the Birding Festival in the Florida Keys and loved it! As soon as I get out of this wheelchair, I plan on getting back to my birding 150%. I have never missed anything as much! This book is a must have for every birder. I only wish I had bought it during the festival.
