Do you think that you’ll continue taking photographs of the environment?

Oh yeah. It’s really an important part in who I am. My father worked for The Nature Conservancy for 30 years, and my mother is a science teacher, so this is my way of doing what they taught me about.

Katherine Wolkoff photography

I very much appreciate Wolkoff's skating on the line of the tension between policy/politics and the art/beauty of the Okeechobee environment. Her photography speaks for itself by capturing a moment in a natural setting - and somehow this can't help but inform the more banal debate. Her photography evokes the images in Wendell Berry's poem "The Peace of Wild Things." Thank you, Ms Wolkoff.
